Mark W. Downs, 57 of Champion Township, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, May 30, 2018. He was born May 19, 1961 in Warren, the son of the late William Edward Downs and Shirley Jean Lauth Downs of Champion. He was a lifetime Champion resident. Mark was a 1979 graduate of Champion High School. He worked in maintenance for many years for Warren Fabricating and Rebhan United and last worked for Four Seasons Car Wash. Mark was raised in the Champion Christian Church. In his youth, he was active in cub scouts and Boy Scout Troop No. 27 in Champion and raced for 3 years in the Trumbull County Soap Box Derby competition. He was an avid Cleveland Indians and NASCAR fan. He loved trout fishing and enjoyed hunting, canning tomato sauce, gardening and loved being a mentor to younger people regarding fishing, canning and gardening. He loved history and reading, especially western novels. Mark is survived by his mother, Shirley J. Downs of Champion; one sister, Deborah A. (Tom) Daugherty of Champion; two brothers, David E. (Jane) Downs and Timothy L. (Susan) Downs both of Champion; two nieces, Crissy (Dennis) Treich and Carey Downs; three nephews, Casey (Marie) Downs, Tommy (Teryn) Daugherty and Billy (Jordan) Daugherty; great nieces and nephew, Cadence, Abby, Felicity, Anna and Elias; his uncle, Wendell Lauth of Bristolville and his aunt, Cathy Downs of South Carolina and many cousins. Also he is survived by his special close friends, Ron, Steve, Bob, Mike and J.D. The funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren, where the family will receive friends from 3 p.m.until the 5 p.m. service time. Pastor Ken Hopkins Jr. will officiate. Burial will be at Sager Memorial Cemetery in Bristolville. The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Samuel Pipes and Dr. Jawad E.
