Obituary for Louise Nichols Annie Louise Maines Nichols, age 79 of 2289 Grandview Drive, Sparta, NC passed away at her home on Friday, June 8, 2018. She was born July 31, 1938 in Alleghany County to the late Preston and Annie Anders Maines. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by infant son, Thomas Garry Nichols; four brothers, Lloyd Maines, Claude Maines, Doc Maines and Ellis Maines; three sisters, Beulah Bourne, Ruth Hatchel and Artie Caudill. Louise was a long time member of Little River Baptist Church. She was a strong loving wife and Mother, she lived her life loving and taking care of her family, her church family, her friends and neighbors, and anybody needing a kind word and smile. She never complained and all who knew her remembers she always thought of them first. She spent 22 years, 1976-1998, working in the Alleghany County School System where every student who passed through the cafeteria line met a sweet smiling face and kind words. A card received from a former student says it best, “No matter how bad or hard my day got I knew that at lunch I would find a smiling face that reminded me of my Momma, a sweet face that knew me by name, knows where I live, friends of my family, and was always kind to me. You always made sure I ate and no matter what was going on seeing you made it better. She loved all the children and they loved “Weezie.” She is survived by her devoted, loving husband of 64 years, Thomas Jack Nichols of the home; one daughter, Lisa Rector and husband Donnie of Sparta; one sister-in-law, Maxine Nichols of Sparta; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of Louise at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Little River Primitive Baptist Church with Elder James Hayden and Elder James Wyatt officiating. Interment will follow in Sparta Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Medi-Home Hospice of Alleghany, PO Box 1287, Sparta, NC 28675, or to Little River Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Roger Lineberry, 82 Lineberry Lane, Sparta, NC 28675. The family would like to extend their appreciation to a very special nurse and friend, Tracy Walton whose loving care of Louise sustained us all.
