Obituary for Lori Michelle Townsend Lori Townsend Lori Townsend, 51, of Lenoir passed away at her home on June 2, 2018 surrounded by her family. Lori was born on March 22, 1967 in Iredell County. She was married 31 years to Wayne Townsend. Lori worked many years and had a successful career at Bernhardt Furniture. Lori was of the Baptist faith. She fought a courageous battle with ALS for three years. Lori is preceded in death by her parents, Wick and Sybil McMillan. In addition to her husband, Lori is survived by her daughter, Heather Gryder and husband Justin; and her grandson Sawyer. Lori is survived by one sister, Norma Russell and husband David; one niece Andrea Russell; one nephew, Nathan Russell and wife Karen; and great niece, Addy. She leaves behind her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dana and Rachel Townsend; and one sister-in-law, Vicki Brown and husband Perry. There will be a celebration of life held at Evans Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 6:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Reggie Wallin. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the NC ALS Association at 4 N. Blount Street, Suite 200, Raleigh, NC 27601 or Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
