Lena Mae Ijames Allen, 86, of Mocksville, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, June 6, 2018, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Allen was born in Davie County August 21, 1931, to Noah and Ila Smith Ijames. She graduated from Mocksville High School in 1948 and married Cecil William Allen on November 24, 1949. Mrs. Allen was a founding member of the Davie County Quilt Guild and the Sheffield-Calahaln Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of Center E.C.A. as well as New Union United Methodist Church. She loved quilting, sewing and collecting cow figurines. She was employed by Wonderknit of Mocksville from 1970 until the plant closed. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil; a brother, Robert Ijames; and a grandchild, Kelli Leigh Drye. She is survived by her three children, Vicki Groce (Randy), Linda Kay Drye and David Allen (Dawn), plus 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 10, at New Union United Methodist Church in Sheffield with Rev. Eric Lineberry and Rev. Billy Jarret officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 until 3:00 PM. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
