Obituary for June M. Hammonds June Miller Hammonds, 83 of Eatonton, died on Thursday, May 31, 2018. She was born on November 2, 1934 in Bullock County, GA to the late Robert Paul and Nanie Lou DeLoach Miller. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Carroll Miller, Ralph Emerson Miller, Klinnon Miller; sisters-in-law, Virginia Miller, Rebecca Hammonds Cleek; brothers-in-law, Michael Wilson, Otis Hammonds. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Fred Hammonds, Lake Oconee; sister, Janis Miller Wilson, Gainesville, GA; brother and sisters-in-law, Clifton (Barbara) Miller, Emmett, ID, Mary Miller, Brooklet, GA; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hammonds graduated from Brooklet High School. She attended Georgia College and State University and graduated from Georgia Southern University with a B.S. degree in Education. June began a successful teaching career in Columbia, SC and Rockdale County, GA. As a Home Economics Teacher, she taught the most valuable of life’s Lessons. She transformed many young people. A sponsor of the Future Homemakers of America, June had state officers, state degree earner, scholarship winners and guided many students to become Home Economics Teachers. She built lifelong relationships with her students and they celebrate June’s life and all she has given to everyone. She was a member of the Conyers United Methodist Church. In her retirement years she enjoyed many activities at the lake, especially the time she spent with her friends in the Book Club and Ladies Canasta Club. A Graveside Service will be held Sunday, June 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens with Dr. Dave Benson officiating.
