John J McVey January 29 1933 June 11 2018 (age 85)

Mr. John J. McVey, age 85 of Woolum, KY departed this life on Monday morning, June 11, 2018 at the home of his son in Powell, TN. He was the son of John E. McVey and America Gambrel, born to them on January 29, 1933 in Spruce Pine, KY. He was a member of the Horn Branch Baptist Church. He united in marriage with Thelma Mills and to this union two children were born. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife and many brothers and sisters. Left behind to mourn his passing, his loving children and grandchildren, sons Dennis McVey and wife Donna of Powell, TN and Calvin McVey and wife Lisa of Lily, KY and four grandchildren, Colton, McKenzie, Kimberly and Olivia McVey. He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends. A graveside service for Mr. McVey will be conducted at the Nan Riley Cemetery at Woolum on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Elbert Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be Brian Kilgore, Dillion Majors, Scotty Trent, Mike Trent, Steve Jones, E.J. Smith and Eugene Collins.. Friends will be received at the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. To the McVey family, the staff of the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home would like to offer you our heartfelt sympathy during your time of bereavement.
