Kasilof resident Janet Elaine Scales, 68, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018 at home. A celebration of her life will be 3 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at the Alaska Roadhouse, Mile 102 Sterling Hwy. Janet was born July 25, 1949 in Fresno, Calif., and she graduated from James Marshall High School in Sacramento, Calif. She moved to Alaska in 2005, residing in Kasilof. Janet had previously retired from Wells Fargo in California and worked for Frontier Community Services as a caregiver… Read More » until 2008. Janet enjoyed jewelry making, fishing lakes for Trout and Kokanee, and hunting moose with friends. Her husband writes, “Janet began a new chapter in life in Alaska. She formed new friendships, and smiled and danced with joy. She treasured the time spent sharing Alaska with friends. She loved her companion dog “Fly-By,” as well as all other dogs and animals. With her husband, Steve, she experienced all the wonders of the Kenai Peninsula.” She was preceded in death by her mother, Freda Foster, her father, Stephen Foster and brother, Michael Foster of Washington. Janet is survived by her husband, Steven Scales of Kasilof; sons, Scott Randolf of California and Matt Randolf and his wife, Carrie, of Fresno, Calif.; two grandchildren of Fresno, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Donnie Ball of Clovis, Calif.; and nephew, Shayne Foster and his son, Stephen of Ketchikan, Alaska. Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
