Obituary for Harold “Hal” Savage Harold Eaton Savage, Jr. of Howell, MI formerly of Farmington Hills, MI our beloved dad, passed peacefully on June 01, 2018 at the age of 87 at the home of his daughter, Karen, in Howell, MI. Born in Detroit, MI he was the only child of Harold E. and Lyda (Morrish) Savage. Hal was raised in Detroit and it was there he met (1947) and married his future wife, Lois A. Bingman in 1951. They were blessed with nearly 67 years of marriage before Lois’s death 11 weeks ago. Hal was a veteran advertising/marketing executive with over 40 years’ experience in the automotive industry spending 1947-1964 with the Chevrolet Motor Division. In 1964 he was named Assistant Advertising Manager for General Motors, a post he held until 1973 when he became the Director of Advertising for Buick Motor Division. In 1987 Hal was named Automotive Marketing Manager for the Magazine Publishers of America Detroit office until he retired in 1989. Hal was a Board Member and past-President of Detroit Athletic Association as well as a Board Member and Life Member of the Adcraft Club of Detroit. He leaves behind a legacy of seven children, 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, all of whom loved, cherished and adored him. Children: Diane (Patrick) Brown, Lynn Peterson, Gail (Michael) McElgunn, James (Cinthia) Savage, William (Debbie) Savage, Karen (Steve) Zaleski and Julie (Daniel) Crago. Grandchildren: Christine, Karen, Megan, Katherine, Colleen, Bryan, Cory, Timothy, Derek, Michael, Steven, Matthew, Andrew, John, Catherine, Allison, Katelyn, William, Quinn, Samantha, Thomas and William. Great-grandchildren include: Cleo, Lennon, Addison, Fred, Rhen, Beckett, Ciaran, Joshua, Marilyn, Jameson, Emmalyn, David, Zachary, Mark, Ted, Rory, Leah, Finn, Ivy, Colette, Danielle and waiting in the wings … a great-grandson due in September 2018. A private, joint memorial service and internment for him and our mother will be held at a later date.
