Gary Arnold Weber, age 70, of Mattoon passed away at 12:42 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at his residence. Funeral services honoring his life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Schilling Funeral Home with Paul Weber officiating. Burial with Military Rites will follow at Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the funeral home. Gary was born on November 15, 1947… Read More » in Mattoon the son of Charles R. and Mary Ellen (Walker) Weber Sr. Survivors include his children, YoLonda Jo Weber, Chad J. (Brooke) Weber and Jana Leigh Weber; grandchildren, Trae Hite, Dustin Hite, Jacob Hite and Khaidyn L. Reed; and several great-grandchildren; mother, Mary Ellen Weber; sisters, Janice M. Weber and Marlene K. (Mike) Browning; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Charles R. Weber Sr. and brother, Charles R. “Chuck” Weber Jr. Gary served honorably in the United States Army during Vietnam and was a 105 Howitzer crew member. He served his state by working for the Mattoon Police Department, Menard State Prison and retired as a Lieutenant from the Coles County Sherriff’s Department. In later years, Gary owned and operated Weber Motor Sales in Mattoon. He enjoyed horses, golfing, antique cars and attending car shows. More recently, Gary enjoyed playing with the Tuesday Ukulele group in Mattoon. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Memorial donations in his honor are suggested to the National Desert Storm War Memorial Association or the Mattoon American Legion.
