Elmer William Landes, 81, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 28, 2018. He was born in Petersburg, West Virginia to the late Elmer and Edna Virginia Landes Clayton. He was the husband of the late Virginia Rivera Luna. Elmer retired as a supervisor of facilities for the Department of Veterans Affairs. He served in the US Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was a Vietnam veteran. Elmer was a member of Lowe Memorial Baptist Church and a member of the DAV. Survivors include his son, Neil McKissen and wife, Lilliam; grandchildren, Zayne Landes, Carol McKissen and Dawn Landes; sisters, Shirley Moore and husband, Don, Millie Dixson and husband, Dennis, Ruby Dixson and husband, Randy and Carol Horne and husband, Gene. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Gary Landes, brothers, Delmar, Fallo, Ralph Edward and Denver, and sister, Betty Jean. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2018, 2:00 pm at Lowe Funeral Home. The burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery with military honors by the US Navy. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
