Wood River: Eileen “Cookie” Elhers – Cox, 68, passed away at 7:05pm on Friday, June 15, 2018, at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. She was born on March 30, 1950, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Robert and Esther (Manewitz) Pate. She married Joe Elhers in 1970 and he preceded her in death in 1974. She then married James “Jimmy” Cox on August 16, 1980, in Roxana, and he survives. Other survivors include one son: Joshua Cox of Fairfax, Virginia, a daughter and son in law: Anna and… Read More » Mike Tucker of Rosewood Heights, two grandchildren: Michael “J.J.” Tucker, Savannah Tucker, a sister and brother in law: Elaine and Tom Fix of Winfield, Missouri, and two nieces: Laura Burns and Kara Lamprecht. Cookie was formerly employed at the St. Louis Regional Airport for Walston Aviation where she learned programming. She then went to work at Millers Mutual, Mercantile Bank, and she retired from AT&T as a mainframe programmer. She was a member of the Roxana Church of the Nazarene where she was very active. In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Visitation will continue from 9am until time of funeral services at 10am on Monday, June 25, 2018 at the Roxana Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Dr. Larry Lacher will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials are suggested to the Roxana Church of the Nazarene.
