Obituary for Charlene Fowler Esther Charlene Cox Wyatt Fowler, age 87 of Sparta, NC passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Forest Ridge Assisted Living in West Jefferson, NC. She was born July 8, 1930 in Alleghany County to the late Charles and Willie Miller Cox. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Gary Wyatt; her second husband, Paul Fowler; one granddaughter, Meredith Jane Wyatt. Growing up during the depression Charlene, her parents and sisters lived in Nevada, Idaho, and West Asheville, NC, but always returned home to Piney Creek. During the 1960’s, she lived in Southern California for 2 ½ years, but spent the majority of her life in Alleghany County. Her occupations included factory work and office work. She considered her large family her greatest treasure. She is survived by one daughter, Mary Charlene Wyatt Herberger and husband Steven of Cary; three sons, Michael Gary Wyatt and wife Debbie of Goldsboro, Alan Conley Wyatt and wife Jane of Sparta, Timothy Paul Fowler and wife Angie of Greensboro; ten grandchildren, Adam C. Wyatt and wife Jennifer of Wake Forest, Ashley Wyatt Edwards and husband Erik of Seven Springs, Emily Wyatt Smith of Raleigh, Mitchell Gary Wyatt and wife Lora of Wadesboro, Elizabeth Wyatt Jerger and wife Caroline of Raleigh, Justin Wyatt Herberger of Raleigh, Hayley June Herberger of Cary, Michael Steven Herberger of Cary, Ty Martin Fowler of Greensboro, Riley Cox Fowler of Greensboro; nine great-grandchildren, Emma Wyatt, Alex Wyatt, Amelia Wyatt, Abigail Edwards, Charlie Grace Edwards, Lilah Smith, Wyatt Smith, Cooper Wyatt and Owen Wyatt; two sisters, June Cox Zimmerman of Piney Creek, Faye Cox Caldwell of Piney Creek; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of Charlene at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2018 in Grandview Memorial Chapel with Reverend Tom Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Piney Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
