Alton W. “Bud” Bruns, age 70 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on May 30, 2018 in Nebraska City. Alton Wayne Bruns, known as “Bud”, was born on January 20, 1948 in Nebraska City, NE; the son of Alton John “Bud” and Patsy Ruth (Hawley) Bruns. He attended school in Syracuse and then Nebraska City where he graduated from Nebraska City High School with the class of 1966. He was married to Lois M. Christiansen. Bud worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for many years and then he owned and operated the 8 Ball Bar and The Player’s Club in Nebraska City. Later he co-owned The Other Place Bar in Otoe, NE with his sister, Mary Donna Lane. Bud was also an over-the-road semi truck driver and owner of the B&B Trucking for 26 years, from 1988 to 2014. In his early years, Bud enjoyed race car driving, golfing, bowling, badmitten, and playing golf. In his later years, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping (especially the Christiansen Family Reunions), playing pinochle cards with the guys, fishing and boating. He really enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter, Lexis. He was a 50 year member of the Eagles and a member of the Gun Club. He is survived by his wife Lois Bruns of Nebr. City; daughter Lacie Bruns-Morris and significant other Philip Hauptman II of Nebr. City; sons: Mitch and Chad; granddaughter Lexis Marie Bruns-Morris of Nebr. City; sister Mary Donna Lane and husband Gary of Nebr. City; step-son Ron Schalk and wife Julie of Nebr. City; step-grandchildren: Ron Schalk III and wife Rachel and Amanda Dovel and husband Zach and their children; numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Fr. Michael McCabe officiating. Burial will follow at the Otoe Cemetery in Otoe, NE. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday (6/4) evening at the mortuary. Memorials may be given to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, E.O.E. Disease Assn. or the Otoe Cemetery.
