Verna Beasley Carroll, 84, a native of Norfolk, and a resident of Chesapeake since 1957, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 25, 2018. She was predeceased by her parents, Ray and Edna Beasley; and brother, Ray Beasley, Jr. She is survived by precious family: three sons, Jay (Terry), Steve (Sue) and Chris; grandchildren, Kelly, Josh (Megan), Kristine (Joe), Ashley, Colin, Kevin; four great-grandchildren and another boy on the way, Zoey, Jessica, Sophia and Naomi; brother, Earl (Yvonne)… Read More » Beasley and children; as well as many beloved friends. She was a member of Oaklette United Methodist Church since 1957, serving in many capacities, leading Sunday School classes and bible studies and assisting with youth programs. She was also active in community and civic affairs. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Oaklette United Methodist Church, 520 Oaklette Dr., Chesapeake, 23325. The family will meet with friends at a reception immediately following the service. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Oaklette United Methodist Church for outreach ministry, or Chesapeake Humane Society.
