On May 14, 2018, Joyce Ann Beevers (Galbreath), aged 90, passed away peacefully in Centerville, Texas. Joyce brought joy and love to many in her long life and she will be greatly missed. Joyce was the third child born of John and Neva Galbreath, and she grew up in and around Jackson, Michigan. She was married to Robert Delbert Beevers (“Buck”) and they shared 45 years of marriage. In addition to raising their family, they enjoyed mushroom hunting, deer hunting, bowling, playing cards… Read More » and getting together with friends. After retirement, they moved to Yuma, Arizona. Buck passed away on November 4, 1993. Joyce and Buck had three children: Cathy Ann Maples (Stephen) of Adrian Michigan, Lorrie Gene Beevers (Mark Waugh) of Knoxville, TN, and Robert (Bob) Guy Beevers (Joli) of Hilltop Lakes, Texas. Joyce also leaves four beloved grandchildren: Titian Williamson (Ian) of Knoxville, TN; Kirsten Maples of Pawtucket, Rhode Island; Kori Irving (Kirk) of White Court, Alberta, Canada; and Robert Beevers of Hilltop Lakes, Texas. Joyce’ s loving legacy also includes five great grandchildren: Katrina Lindsay, Kristabelle and Kane Irving of Canada, and Julian and Marian Williamson of Knoxville, TN. Joyce was proceeded in death by two sisters: Betty Furtwangler and Donna Bryant. She is survived by two brothers: John (Jack) Galbreath of Yuma, Arizona, and Larry Galbreath of Jackson, Michigan. Joyce had many talents. Until her retirement, she ran her cosmetology shop, Joyce Ann’s Beauty shop, in her home. She enjoyed many friendships throughout the Tecumseh area and she was known for her skills in the kitchen. She was a great cook, as many friends and relatives continue to attest. Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and friend. She loved fiercely and with great loyalty—reflecting the ‘joy’ in ‘Joyce.’ Her nieces and nephews are the better for her love and devotion, as are all in her extended family and circle of friends. As but one example, she gave of herself for three years in her later years to help care for young Katrina. In more recent times, she resided with son Bob and family in Texas who graciously cared for her during her last years. Up until the very end, she retained her kindness and sense of humor (not to mention her love of sweets), amusing all with her quick wit and generous spirit. A memorial service will be held in Tecumseh, Michigan, at a later date to be determined. More information will be provided as the date is firmed up.
