Alicia A. Porras, 76, of Big Spring, died Saturday, May 12, 2018. Vigil service will be at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Myers & Smith Chapel. Funeral mass will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will be at Mount Olive Memorial Park. Alicia was born November 7, 1941 in Big Spring, Texas to Felisitas Gonzales Arista and Tom Carrion Arista. She was a lifetime resident of Big Spring. She was a homemaker and had her Associate’s Degree from Howard… Read More » College. She was certified in Early Child Education and was the Curriculum Teacher Director at Lakeview Headstart for 30 years. Alicia loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchild. She loved music, dancing and playing the piano. Alicia was also very artistic with painting and sculpting. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She is survived by two daughters: Melinda Marquez (Jimmy) and Cynthia Porras, both of Big Spring; two sons: Peter Porras, Jr. (Diane) of Oviedo, FL and Robert Porras (Tami) of Austin; one brother: Tom Arista, Jr. (Rosa) of Big Spring; three sisters: Rosie Miramontes of Odessa, Margie Sanchez (Manuel) of Odessa and Yolanda Renteria (Juan) of Big Spring; five grandchildren: Catherine Lenore Porras, Raymond Jesus Thomas Porras, Amber Hinojos, Abel Matthew Hinojos and Anabella Porras and one great grandson: Daniel Holguin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Pedro Porras, Sr. on January 8, 2000. Pallbearers will be John Renteria, Michael Renteria, Danny Porras, Johnny Porras, Abel Matthew Hinojos and Augustine Paredez. Arrangements are by Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
