Shirley Ann Gibbs age 69 of Dowelltown passed away Thursday afternoon at St. Thomas DeKalb Hospital ER. She was born April 28, 1948 to her parents, the late Robert and Virginia Tarr Baker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Georgia Barber and Bonnie Howell and 1 brother, H.B. Baker. Shirley was a Baptist and a retired shirt factory worker. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Billy Gibbs of Dowelltown; 4 children, Tammy Evans of Georgia, Roxann Hunt of Smithville, Peggy Gibbs of Smithville and Michael Gibbs of Liberty; 6 grandchildren, David Evans, Ashley Buchanan, Amanda Sanders, Kayla Sanders, Vanessa Freeman and Natasha Thaxton; 13 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Mary Murphy of Smithville, Sue Mitchell of Cookeville, Dorothy Leach of McMinnville and Betty Hancock of Carthage; 3 brothers, Glen Baker of Liberty, Jimmy Baker of Smithville and Billy Baker of Smithville. Funeral services will be conducted 2:PM Sunday, April 29, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Wilson Williams and Michael Hale officiating and burial will follow in Salem Cemetery in Liberty. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday 2:PM until 8:PM and Sunday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2:PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
