Jacqueline Barratt 1935 2018

Obituary of Jacqueline Barratt Jacqueline Barratt, 83, of Newport, Rhode Island passed away suddenly in her home on Sunday, May 27, 2018. Unfortunately, cause of death is undetermined. She was born May 1st, 1935 in Manhattan, New York to Leo & Sarah Sobel, and had 2 sisters, Pearl and Elaine, both of whom passed before her. She graduated valedictorian of her high school class and went on to be a very successful careerwoman and mother. She took pride in the fact that she was told she looked like Jacqueline Kennedy. She was fiercely independent and loved the history of art, demonstrated by owning her antique business for over 30 years. She was heavily involved with the Historical Preservation Society and several art galleries here in Newport for many years and was a big believer in supporting local businesses. She is survived by her daughter Judith and granddaughter Christen. She was greatly loved and will always be in our hearts. Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the O’Neill-Hayes Funeral Home, 465 Spring Street, Newport from 2-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Preservation of Newport County, Development Office, 424 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, RI 02840 or by visiting www.newportmansions.org/join-and-support/donate-today
