Obituary for William David “Bill” Ray William David “Bill” Ray, 77, of North Fairfield, died Saturday, May 26, 2018 at home. Born on June 5, 1940 in Greenwich, he was the son of the late Albert and Leona (nee King) Ray. Bill lived in the Greenwich and North Fairfield area his whole life. Bill retired from AK Steel in Mansfield where he was a pipe fitter. He served as a member of the Greenwich Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Bill enjoyed time spent outdoors; in his younger years hunting, fishing, and golfing and more recently, camping, gardening and especially mowing his yard. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing as well as watching many different sports including Nascar. Bill also enjoyed racing cars, both late models and super modified, and riding his motorcycle. Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 17 years, Lynne (nee Sowards); his son Johnny (Tracey Huff) of Greenwich; step-daughter Jennifer (Robert) Rivers, of New Albany; grandchildren Meghan (Joel) Uselton, Jamie Delaney, Gunner Ray, Gianna Rivers, Ron, Brooke, and Jacob Huff; and great grandchildren Jillian, Luke, and Avery. Bill was preceded in death by his son William “Billy” Ray Jr, and siblings Robert Ray, Dottie Schlotterer, and Betty Odson. Friends and family will be received on Thursday, May 31, from 4-7 p.m., at Eastman Funeral Home, 49 West Main Street, Greenwich, 44837.
