Obituary of Robert Powers Robert A. Powers, 69, of Ava, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018. He was born in Elmira, NY, on April 12, 1949, the son of the late Jack and Georgetta Sheasley Powers. On June 22, 1968, he was united in marriage to Roberta May. Bob was a 21 year veteran of the US Air Force, retiring at Griffiss Air Force Base in 1990 as Master Sergeant. He went to work in the produce department at Price Chopper for several years. He was a long time member of the Lee American Legion. Surviving besides his wife Roberta, are: a daughter, Leesa (Louis) DiMezzo of Rome; two sons, Jerod (Frances) Powers of Jacksonville, FL, and Sean (Kai) Powers of Rome; two sisters and three brothers; eleven grandchildren, Erin (Nicola) Smith, Tyler (Brittany) Smith, Nicole Mingos, Ryley Mingos, Zackery Wilkes, Sean Powers Jr., Charisma Powers, Kinley Powers, Parker Powers, Elijah Powers and Daniel Powers; five great-grandchildren, Codi, Aiden, Caleb, Addison and Abigail; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his dogs, Tia , and Pepsi who predeceased him. In keeping with Bob’s wishes, private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome.
