A celebration of Richard’s homecoming with the Lord will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. in the North Star Church, Hibbing. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018, in Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service Chapel, Chisholm, and will continue for one half-hour prior to the service in the church on Saturday. Richard was born on September 29, 1949, in Chisholm, MN, to Federico “Dick” and Sophie J. (Rosc) Tiburzi. He was a graduate of Chisholm High School Class of 1967 and was a longtime Hibbing resident. Richard was united in marriage on January 7, 1983, in Taconite, MN, to Sandra Marie Hoey. He worked for the City of Hibbing for 28 years at the waste treatment plant. Richard was a loving follower of Jesus Christ and devoted his entire life to serving his Lord by serving others, including his Native American friends in Fort Hope, Ontario, and Monterrey, Mexico. He was a member of the Minnesota Trappers Association, and enjoyed trapping, fishing, hunting, harvesting wild rice, and spending time with his children. He was always quick to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and was extremely generous. He shared God’s love for children and found great joy in playing hockey and basketball with kids at local rinks and courts with his friends. Richard was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and boisterous laugh. Richard is survived by his wife, Sandy; children, Beth (Carl) Lindquist of Hibbing, Amy Tiburzi of Hibbing, Rebecca (Dan) Houck of Bozeman, MT, and Thomas Tiburzi of Hibbing; sister, Mariane Tobin of Brooklyn Park, MN; brother, Frank (Darcy) Tiburzi of Chisholm; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
