Obituary for Sgt. Major Philip Alexander Kalif, USA Ret. Sgt. Major Philip Alexander Kalif, USA Ret., passed away on May 17, 2018, in the Chelsea Soldier’s Home, Chelsea, MA. He was husband of the late Hasseeba T.(Habib) Kalif. Born in Fall River, a son of the late Alexander Kalif and the late Sophie (Yared) Kalif, he lived in Somerset for many years. Mr. Kalif served over 21 years in the US Army during both WWII and Korea, retiring as a Sgt. Major. Upon retirement from the military, he worked as a letter carrier, in Fall River, and Somerset, for 18 years retiring in 1982. He is survived by four children; four grand children; and his brother Frederick. A mass of remembrance will be held Thursday, May 24, 2018, in St. Anthony of the Desert Church, 300 N. Eastern Ave., Fall River, at 10 AM. Inurnment to follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Homes for our Troops, 6 Main St., Taunton, MA 02780. Arrangements with the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, Somerset, MA.
