She lived in several places while growing up with her family because her father served in the United States Air Force. After graduating from the University of Denver in 1989 with a BS in Business Administration, she chose the Denver area as her home. From an early age Cheryl was athletic and competitive. She played high school basketball, soccer and ran track. She played college soccer and continued to play competitively until raising her children kept her closer to home. Her teammates and classmates remember her laugh and fun-loving spirit. On September 3, 1994 she married Robert Zimmerman in Estes Park, Colorado. They raised three wonderful children: Marie Catherine, Adam Anthony and Carly Scout. Cheryl instilled in them daily her energy, drive, and most importantly, her unsurpassed love of life and the joy that each new day could bring. Her dedication to her children was ever present, teaching them, guiding them, loving them and encouraging them to be their best, achieve their dreams and live every day to its fullest. She was loyal to her husband and children and gave them her heart and soul. Cheryl spent endless hours enjoying the outdoors in all seasons. She loved snow skiing, hiking, trail running, and triathlons. Her love of adventure and enthusiasm to tackle any new challenge were infectious, whether setting a route to a new peak or learning the mechanics of a horse trailer. She never said, “I can’t do that.” Instead, it was, “we will see” or “I’m researching it and I’m going to try it.” In a labor of love, she became a general contractor to build a log home in Winter Park that the family used as a base for all of their mountain adventures. And no surprise, she achieved her goal of running her first steeplechase in Boulder, Colorado on her 50th birthday. Cheryl will be remembered for being an incredible mother, wife, daughter, sister and aunt. A friend to all, she took great care to inspire everyone around her to be their best. Her unending energy, creativity, love for animals, her smile and most of all her devotion to her family will remain in our hearts forever. Cheryl is survived by her husband Robert, children Marie Catherine, Adam Anthony and Carly Scout, parents Hart and Dorothy Guenther, sister Karen (Bill) Brack, sister Deborah (Mark) Johnston, brother Rick (Patricia) Guenther, sister Susan (Todd) Haitz, brother Mark (Kimberly) Guenther, nieces and nephews Brandy (Zack) Grutter, Angela (Kyle) Zill, Marcus Johnston, Megan Guenther, Teresa Guenther, Raquel Tanida (Guenther), Afonso Tanida (Guenther), Alexandria Haitz, Nathan Haitz, Riley Kile, Sydney Kile, plus grand-nieces Madelyn, Olivia, Amelia and Felicity Grutter and Daphne Zill.
