Obituary for Sister Alicia Whatley Sister Alicia (Marjorie Ann) Whatley died at 2:15 p.m. on May 25, 2018 at Seton Residence in Evansville, Indiana. Sister Alicia was born on January 28, 1936 in Mobile, Alabama and was an only child of Charles Wilton and Alicia Agnes (Norville) Whatley. Sister graduated from Bishop Toolen High School in 1954 and worked for Catholic Charities in Mobile until she entered the Daughters of Charity in St. Louis, Missouri in 1964. After initial formation, Sister Alicia served as secretary in the Daughters of Charity Support Services at Marillac Provincial House in St. Louis, Missouri. This was also her ministry at St. Patrick Day Care Center and St. Vincent Hospital, both in St. Louis, until 1977. Sister Alicia received certification as a Medical Transcriptionist and a Registered Health Information Technician. From 1977 until 1991, Sister Alicia served as a Medical Records Transcriptionist at Hotel Dieu Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was then missioned to Dallas, Texas and served in this same capacity at St. Paul Medical Center and St. Paul University Hospital until 2004. For the next six years, Sister Alicia continued this service at Seton Healthcare Network in Austin, Texas until 2010. In 2010 Sister retired and went to the Sarah Community, St. Louis, Missouri where she lived until 2013 when she was missioned to Seton Residence Ministry of Prayer. A Wake Service will be held Sunday, May 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the Seton Residence Chapel. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 28. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery on Tuesday, May 29. Sister was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved Aunt Gloria Dolan. Sister is survived by numerous cousins, her Sisters in Community, and many friends. Donations may be made to the Daughters of Charity, 4330 Olive Street, St. Louis, MO 63108.
