Obituary for Dolores Alligood Bailey Dolores Alligood Bailey, known as Dee to most, passed away peacefully at her home in Thomasville on Sunday, May 27, 2018, at the age of 80. A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Bailey at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Thomasville First United Methodist Church. The Reverends James C. Sapp and Leigh Ann Raynor will officiate. The family will receive friends in the TFUMC Fellowship Hall following the service. Interment will follow at 4:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald. Born February 4, 1938, in Fitzgerald, Dee was the daughter of the late David Robert (D.R.) and Tommie Taylor Alligood. She was a 1956 graduate of Fitzgerald High School where, as an accomplished pianist, she shared her gift of music with the Glee Club and other ensemble groups. She attended Mercer University where she was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority and then went on to Georgia State College for Women and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Education in 1960. She worked alongside her husband Ed in their drugstores in Tallahassee and Pelham, but mostly she focused on her role as wife and mother. In 1987 she went to work for the Georgia Department of Family and Children’s Services where she impacted many lives. Upon retirement she returned to her love for music and served the Thomasville Entertainment Foundation (TEF) as an active Board member. On March 5, 1961 she married her lifelong sweetheart, Julius Edward Bailey Jr., who survives. Other survivors include her three girls Melanie Bailey Hasty (Mark), Susan Bailey Harvard (Jay), and Beth Bailey Deese (Rodney); grandchildren Bailey Harvard Greer (Brent), Chase Harvard (Holly), Kinsey Taylor Campbell (Ian), Justin Hasty, Kelly Hasty Hand (Lucas), Caroline Deese and Emily Deese; great grandchildren Lily Campbell, Connor Greer and Ford Harvard; sister Beverly Alligood Lavender; sister-in-law LaNelle Bailey Lasseter; many nieces and nephews. Among those, she was especially close to her nephews Ted Lavender and David Lavender and their families. Memorials in her honor may be sent to First United Methodist Church, 425 N.
