Obituary of Casimir Hamerla Casimir C. Hamerla passed away at the age of 74, on Friday, May 25, 2018, at his home in Plainfield, with his son, Cory, by his side. He was born in Joliet, and was a lifelong Joliet and Plainfield area resident. Butch was a graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Joliet Junior College, and Joliet Township High School, Class of 1961. He retired from Commonwealth Edison after more than 35 years of service. His greatest enjoyments were being outdoors, fishing, golfing and gardening. Casimir is survived by two sons, Cory (Jennifer) Hamerla of Coal City, IL and Brian Hamerla of Gilbert, AZ; three grandchildren, Cole, Melody and Ayden Hamerla; four brothers, Sherman (Terry) Hamerla of Joliet, John Hamerla of Cibolo, TX, Don (Ann) Hamerla of Helena, MT, and Tom (Marilyn) Hamerla of Beaumont, CA; one sister, Donna (Michael) Cronmiller of Mesa, AZ; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by a very special friend and companion, Mary Feddersen, who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Casimer and Marchetta (nee Litzen) Hamerla. The family would like to give a sincere thank you to the Joliet Area Community Hospice for the loving and supportive care given to Casimir and his family. Visitation for Casimir C. Hamerla will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet.
