Obituary for Patsy Ann Johnson
Patsy Ann Johnson, 84, of Teays Valley was welcomed through the gates of Heaven on Friday, March 30, 2018.
Born on April 12, 1933, Patsy was the daughter of the late Earnest and Bessie Curtis Milligan of Hinton, WV. Patsy was married to the late Basil “Jack” Johnson, celebrating 54 years together just prior to his death in 2011.
Patsy was a graduate of Hinton High School, where she was a majorette and served in student government. Later, as an adult and mother of school age children, she earned a master’s degree in Education from West Virginia State University. She taught at Spring Hill and Dunbar Elementary schools for several years. Upon retirement, she and Jack frequently traveled worldwide and volunteered in the community.
Patsy was a charter member of the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in Hurricane, where she taught Sunday School and group Bible studies for both youngsters and adults. She was an avid reader, a perpetual student, and genuinely enjoyed watching college and professional sporting events.
Patsy is survived by her children, Parry Johnson (Pam) of St. Albans; Terri Adkins (Homer) of Culloden; grandsons David Johnson (Maysa) living and working in Saudi Arabia, Chris Johnson (Ashley) of Parkersburg and great-grandchildren Carlee and Nate Johnson.
A graveside tribute will be held at a later date at the Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery in Dunbar, WV., where Patsy will be interred with her husband.
