Obituary for M.D. “Bud” Rogers
M.D. “Bud” Rogers, age 87, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018 in his home. A graveside service will be held 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 3 in Lamar Memorial Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Born April 3, 1930, Bud is the son of the late Leo Byrd Rogers and Emma Hudson Rogers. He retired from Sonoco after 43 years. He was a member of Will of Faith Southern Methodist Church, and was chairman of the board for 22 consecutive years. Bud was an avid rock fisherman and bird hunter.
Surviving are his son, Tommy Rogers of Lamar; his grandchildren, Donna (Pat) Bunch of Florence, Scott Rogers of Lamar, and Courtney (Zach) Jackson of Hartsville; his great-grandchildren, Hannah and Daniel Bunch, Anna Burney, Reese, Charley, and Cohen Jackson; his sister, Emogene “Gene” Fryar of Lamar, and Jackie Shealy of Florence.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Janet Goodson Rogers; his son, Donald Rogers; his grandson, Christopher Scott Rogers; his great-granddaughter, Faith Elizabeth Bunch; and his brother, James “Ralph” Byrd Rogers.
