Joseph T. Rabickow, Sr., 92, of Kiski Township, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in QLS- West Haven Manor, Washington Township.
Born March 7, 1926 in Donora, he was a son of the late George N. Rabickow Sr. & Anna B. (Chervenak) Rabickow.
Joseph has lived in Kiski Township since the 1940’s, and proudly served our country with the United States Marines 6th Division during World War II. He worked as a millwright for United States Steel in Vandergrift for many years, retiring… Read More » in 1991. Joseph was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Apollo, the Apollo Elks, and the Armstrong County American Legion, and a member of its Honor Guard.
He enjoyed the outdoors, and loved hunting, gardening, camping and boating on his pontoon at Prince Gallitzin State Park.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ida M. “Nancy” (Myers) Rabickow, who passed away on August 28, 2013; brothers, George & Carl Rabickow, Jack and John Rabico; and his sisters, Mary Ann Erzen, Ann Heard, and Martha Jean Baker.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Susan E. (Thomas) Burkett of Kiski Township; son, Father Joseph T. (Matushka Katherine) Rabickow, Jr. of Kiski Township; grandchildren, J. Thomas Rabickow III, Patrick D. Rabickow, Christopher P. Rabickow, Jamie Briscoe, Jaclyn Plummer; great-grandchildren, Ana Rabickow, Alan Stull, Orry & Reed Briscoe, Jensen Plummer; sister, Evelyn Bean of Pittsburgh; and nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. Additional visitation will take place in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 214 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Apollo, on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Philip Ramstad officiating. Following the services, military honors accorded by the Armstrong County American Legion Honor Guard. Private interment in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell, at the convenience of the family.
