Obituary of Jerry Howard
Jerry L. Howard, Sr., 69, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at the Siengenthaler Center in New Hartford. He was born in Clinton, NC, on May 8, 1948, the son of the late Paul and Beulah Hobbs Howard.
Jerry worked for many years at Rome Cable Corporation and later was employed by Birnie Bus Co.
He enjoyed camping, fishing and riding his motorcycle but what he loved most was spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports.
Jerry is survived by: three daughters, Patty (Samuel) Richie of Port Deposit, MD, Joyce Howard Langston of Rome and Samantha Howard of Rome; four sons, Jerry (Shaun) Howard of Rome, Jerry Howard Jr. of Rome, Louis Howard of Rome and Matthew Howard of Taberg; a sister, Lucy Mary Smith of Syracuse; a brother, Paul (Carol) Howard of Utica; seventeen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; friend, Becky Mahle; and his beloved dogs Rudy, Nico and Franky. He was predeceased by two brothers, Lewis and James Howard.
Jerry’s family would like to thank his former wife, Patricia Howard, for her loving care during his time of need. They would also like to thank the wonderful Hospice staff for their professional care and compassion.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 6:00PM at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday prior to the service from 3-6:00PM.
