LeRoy K. Strate, 82, of Quincy, Illinois, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Sunset Home in Quincy. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, April 6, 2018, at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, Missouri. Pastor Wes Gehrke will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Friday, April 6, 2018, at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel.

He married Thelma White. Together they raised Bullmastiff dogs and showed them in competitions. She preceded him in death. He was later married to Gloria Roskamp on August 26, 1995 Quincy, Illinois. She survives.
Other survivors include 1 Sister, Freda Munson, MN, 2 Step Sons, Lance Roskamp (Tami), Layne Roskamp (Rose), 1 Niece, Randi Rose (Justin), 3 Grandchildren, Shanna Winter, Jared Roskamp, Jami Roskamp.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters Margaret Hoehne, Carolina Strate and Ella Sophia Bock.
He was a graduate of Palmyra High School. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri.
LeRoy served many years in the National Guard.
He was a man of faith and a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Palmyra. He was always pleasant and easy going.
LeRoy loved woodworking. He made many beautiful pieces of furniture for his and Gloria’s home.
