Obituary for Faye J. Murray
Faye J. Murray, age 90, passed away on April 2, 2018, in West Lafayette, Indiana. She was born to Frank and Hazel Smith Donnelly in Lyons, Kansas, on November 13, 1927. She graduated from Lyons High School and attended Fort Hays Kansas State University and Purdue University. She was an elementary school teacher in Kansas before her marriage to James F. Murray in Monon, Indiana, February 16, 1948, and he survives. Mrs. Murray was a member of the Elks Ladies Auxiliary, inactive member of Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority and was active in Oakland PTA for many years. She had been a girl scout leader, a cub scout den mother, boy scout worker, volunteer for fund raising groups and a Sunday school teacher for several years. She was a member of Congress Street United Methodist Church for 43 years, serving on the Board of Trustees and many offices including the church historian. She was a member of Morning Circle of the United Methodist Women for nearly 35 years and served as President of the UMW in 1983 and 1984. She has been a member of First United Methodist Church for a number of years and a member of Mary Martha Circle. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, playing cards, walking, music and playing golf. She particularly enjoyed her role as a homemaker. Surviving are four children, on daughter, Cheryl Y. Bultinck (Steve) of Lafayette, three sons-Robert J. Murray (Patti) of Westlake Village, Ca., Richard D. Murray (Cindy) of Lafayette, Todd R. Murray (Allison) of Pine Village, IN., one sister Wanda Waggoner (Glen) of McPherson, Kansas, one sister, Jean Rolfs (Ned) preceded her in death and a sister, Annette Donnelly passed away in infancy. Surviving grandchildren are Ben Murray (Kim), Betsy Bolden (Hank), Sarah May (Chris), Rachel Murray, Daniel Murray, Patrick Murray, Colin Bultinck, Susanna Sisk, Stephanie Luneack (Richard), and Graham Bultinck. Great Grandchildren Hudson Murray, Henry Murray, Hyett Bolden, Kherington May, Connor Hubble, Tate Hubble, Charlotte Hubble, and Sawyer Luneack. Visitation will take place at First United Methodist Church, 1700 West State Street, West Lafayette, IN 47906, on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 4-7 p.m The funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with visitation one-hour prior at the church. Pastor Denny Frank will officiate with entombment to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
