Obituary for Shirley Jean (Grothman) Beck Heine Shirley Jean Grothman Beck Heine age 82 of Metropolis passed away April 24, 2018 at the Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 3, 1935, in Massac County to William and Alfreda Hall Grothman, who preceded her in death. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Metropolis, IL with Dr. Joe Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Shirley is survived by, Her Husband of 18 years, Donald D. Heine, Sr. of Metropolis, IL, Three sons, Dave Beck and wife Selena of Ledbetter, KY, Jeff Beck and wife Nancy of Montgomery, TX, Tim Beck and wife Charla of Metropolis, IL; one Step-daughter Susan Myers and husband Kenny of Metropolis, One step son, Donald Heine, Jr. and wife Christy of Erlanger, KY; grandchildren, Jamie Mizell and husband Sean of Metropolis, IL, Kevin Beck and wife Lindsey of Spring, TX, Tony Beck and wife Stacy of Grantsburg, IL, Courtney Kaaz and husband James of Montgomery, TX, Mallory Beck-Soto and husband Esteban of Austin, TX, Travis Beck and wife Santanna of Karnak,IL; Five great grandchildren, Jase and Adan Mizell, Hunter Beck, Stephanie Kaaz and Ryder Beck; Step-grandchildren, John D. Heine and wife Kara, Brian Heine, Brandon Heine, Jodi Myers, Jacob Myers, Jessi Minor and husband Michael of MN; Step great grandchildren, Cade Kaaz, Tanner Kaaz, Seth Kaaz, Jenna Kaaz, Addison Minor, Olivia Heine, Hannah Heine, Devin Heine, Brian Heine, Lucy Heine, Drake Heine, & Cason Heine. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; First Husband of 45 years, James T. Beck; one brother, Billy Grothman; one step son, John E. Heine. She was a member of the Metropolis First Baptist Church since the age of 5 and was a member of the choir, she enjoyed camping and horseback riding with her family. She worked at the Massac County Sherriff’s Department and as a teacher’s aide at Joppa/Maple Grove School District for 17 years. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 307 Massac Creek Rd., Metropolis, IL. 62960. Friends may call at the First Baptist Church on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at 2 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis, Illinois.
