Thomas Tommy Holmes Powell 1964 2018

Thomas “Tommy” Holmes Powell Thomas “Tommy” Holmes Powell, 53, of Dahlonega, passed away Thursday April 26, 2018 at Chestatee Regional Hospital. Tommy was born September 18, 1964 in Mobile, Alabama to the late Howard and Peggy Powell. A member of The Lighthouse for Jesus Church in Sugarhill, he loved to participate in music and loved the water. Although he had nonverbal autism, he would never meet a stranger and loved to flirt with the ladies. Tommy loved to eat and his favorite meal was Ms. Vickie’s chicken and dumplings. Surviving are his brother, Lee Powell and his fiancé, Karen McClure, Conyers; sister, Patty Treadwell, Conyers; having been his caregivers for the past 10 years, becoming known as his second parents, Grady and Vickie Teems, Dahlonega; and many other friends and relatives. Funeral services will be held Thursday May 3, 2018 at 11 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Keith Blackwell will officiate. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 8 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or you may make donations in memory of Tommy to The Lighthouse of Jesus Church, 5304 Sycamore Road, Sugar Hill, GA 30518.
