Meierant, Ida Alice Kidd
Alice was born October 9, 1926 to Amos S. Kidd and Martha Amye Turner Kidd in Mason County, Texas. She passed away on March 29, 2018, at the age of 91.
Alice was pre-deceased by her parents, her husband Fred, her daughter Martha Nipps, her brother Amos W. Kidd. Also by good friend and caregiver Moses Echeveria.
She is survived by granddaughter Amy Eickner and husband Jason, and grandson Tommy Nipps and wife Taryn, along with 6 great grandchildren, her brother Darrell Kidd, good friend Bob Dean, and son-in-law Tom Nipps.
Alice is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Alice and Fred were married November, 1942, in Castell, Texas. They moved to San Marcos 2 years later, and Martha was born 10 years later. She started to work at the Lutheran School when Martha was 4 as a meal preparer, she enjoyed the children so much. Alice worked at the Lair at Texas State University for 20 years. She finally quit and stayed at home to care for her husband.
Before he died, he encouraged her to return to church, where she belonged to the J.U.L.I.E.T.S. Alice and Fred were blessed to be one of the founding families of several to establish Grace Lutheran Church in San Marcos. Even though she wasn’t able to attend the last few years, she loved her church and appreciated all the visits while she was in the nursing home.
The family wants to thank the CNA’s, nurses, housekeeping staff, and the meal preparers at San Marco Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, along with Heart to Heart Hospice.
Memorials May be made to Grace Lutheran Church in San Marcos, or the charity of your choice.
