Obituary of Dorothy Merritt
Dorothy Jennette Merritt age 86 of LaVergne passed away Monday March 26, 2018. A native of Princeton, Alabama she was the daughter of the late Coy and Ottie Lawson Cates. She is also preceded in death by her husband; Charles Merritt, two brothers; Billy Cates, Coy Cates and three sisters; Frances Cagle, Virginia Fowler and Nadine Cates.
Mrs. Merritt is survived by her children; Gayle Warpool, Wayne Merritt both of LaVergne, Donald (Sandra) Merritt of Smyrna, Mark (Karen) Merritt of Wisconsin, two grandchildren; Annie Short, Holly (Walter) Adams, three great grandchildren; Katelin (Bradley) Kelso, Chase Smithey, T.J. Morgan and a great-great grandchild; Aubrie Kelso. She is also survived by two brothers; Oscar Cates of Smyrna and Jimmy Cates of Michigan.
Mrs. Merritt was a member of Jefferson Pike Church of Christ. Visitation will be 4:00PM until 8:00PM Wednesday at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:30AM Thursday at Jefferson Pike Church of Christ, 218 Jefferson Pike, LaVergne, Tennessee 37167. Brother Jimmy Carver will officiate with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Online guestbook is available at www.murfreesborofuneralhome.com
