Obituary of Morton Werner
M. WILLIAM “BILL” WERNER
Passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 22, 2018, of Regent Square, at the age of 91. Beloved son, brother, sailor, father, teacher, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather and neighbor. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Bill went to Schenley High and the University of Pittsburgh and proudly served in World World II as a radarman on the smallest ocean-going vessel in the US Navy. He taught his students at Reizenstein Middle School the definition of culture and how to be respected and thoughtful members of society. He was often recognized by many of his former students after retirement. An avid reader, he also had a passion for US History, politics, music, sports, walking, volunteering in his Regent Square community and collecting coins and stamps. His four children, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren are his greatest legacy. A private family gathering to honor Bill will be held in the spring. Arrangements by the THOMAS L. NIED FUNERAL HOME, INC.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Morton
