Obituary of Joseph Heil, Jr.
Joseph G. Heil, Jr., 95, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at his home in Upper Pottsgrove, PA. He was the husband of the late Laura C. (Benditt) Heil, with whom he shared 70 years of marriage.
Born in Pottstown, PA on February 1, 1923, Joseph was the son of the late Joseph G. Heil, Sr., and Anna (Skokowski) Heil.
Joseph was a member of Saint Aloysius Church in Pottstown and a lifetime member of the Upper Pottsgrove Fire Company. He and his wife participated in the Foster Care Program for 10 years and cared for over 40 children. Joseph loved spending time at home, whether he was working or relaxing on the porch.
He is survived by four children, Linda L. DiCarlo, Tamaqua, PA; Marilyn A. Saccomanno, wife of James, Freeport, TX; Joseph G. Heil, III, Pottstown, PA; and Karen L. Levengood, Pottstown, PA; ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by one great-granddaughter, Cora Anne Casarez; two sisters, Rita and Rosemond Dobbs; and his nephew, Martin Dobbs.
A viewing will take place on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Saint Aloysius Church, 223 Beech St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place after the service at Saint Aloysius New Cemetery. Houck & Gofus Funeral Home, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464 will be handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph’s memory to Saint Aloysius Church.
