Minerva S. “Minnie” Aguirre, 86, a resident of the Gaston community, died Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Hawthorne House Care Center in Forest Grove
Minerva “Minnie” S. Aguirre was born August 26th, 1931 in Edinburg Texas, the daughter of the late Bernardo and Cleotilde (Garcia) Saldaña. She was raised and received her education in the Edinburg, Texas community graduating in the class of 1949.
She was united in marriage to Juan “John” Aguirre, Sr., on August 5, 1949, in Edinburg, Texas. They celebrated sixty-four years of marriage before John’s passing. Following their marriage, they made their home in the community of Edinburg until 1967. They moved to the Gaston community where they resided until 2013 when she moved to Forest Grove community to reside in an assisted care facility.
Minnie worked at Hanks Supercenter for 26 years where she met a large part of the Forest Grove-Cornelius community.
Minerva enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, photography, embroidery, and traveling to the Oregon Coast and visiting Texas.
She was an active member of the St. Anthony’s Parish in Forest Grove.
Minerva was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband John and her sisters; Maria Flores, and Lydia S. Case and her brother Barney Saldaña of Edinburg, Texas.
Survivors are her four children and their spouses, Margarita and Rob Boyce, of Hillsboro; Amador Aguirre, of Christmas Valley, Oregon; Gloria and Charlie Betancourt, of Forest Grove, Oregon and John C. Jr., and Mairi Scott-Aguirre, of Forest Grove, Oregon; her sisters and brother in law; Alice Torres of Detroit, Michigan, Alma and David Ruiz of Harker Heights, Texas, Sylvia Saldaña of Edinburg, Texas, and Yolanda Garcia of El Paso, Texas.
Also surviving are her nine grandchildren and their spouses; Carissa and Dan Peters, of Cornelius, Oregon; Robbie and Brianna Boyce, of Rock Creek, Oregon; Lance Boyce, of Hillsboro, Oregon; Olivia and Ryan Olson, of Portland, Oregon; James and Jamie Jo Aguirre, of Hubbard, Oregon; Tony Aguirre, of Gaston, Oregon; Abby Aguirre & Hannah Aguirre, of Forest Grove, Oregon; David Aguirre of Forest Grove, Oregon; and her six great-grandchildren, Jarett Boyce; Damon Peters; Daxsen Peters; Charlie Olson, Gabriel Olson and Ellie Aguirre and numerous nieces and nephews.
