Janice Laverne Turpin 2018

Janice Laverne Turpin passed away March 19, 2018 at the age of 85. Janice was born March 13, 1933 to William Oscar Farmer and Beatrice Raney in Jasper, Arkansas. Her family moved near Coquille, Oregon when she was 4 years old. A few years later they moved to Springfield, Oregon. Janice graduated from Springfield High School in 1951. She married James Everett Turpin December 29, 1951. They enjoyed 64 anniversaries together until he preceded her in death on December 16, 2016.
Janice worked alongside James building three homes over the years, and working on their farm. She enjoyed playing piano and worshiping with her friends at the Mohawk Community Church, where she was a member. She was a volunteer with the local election board for several years. Janice loved painting with oils and water colors, she also loved to go fishing, crabbing, clamming and camping. Janice loved her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister, Vella Lanz of Springfield; sons, Michael, James Jr., Kenneth and Rex all of Springfield; daughter, Jill Turpin of Springfield; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 30, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Major Family Funeral Home 112 North A Street Springfield, Oregon 97477. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mohawk Community Church 91190 Hill Road Springfield, Oregon.
