Virginia L Rader 2018

Virginia L. Rader, 90, of Galion, died Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Galion Pointe Nursing Home, Galion.
Virginia was born in Mansfield, on May 14, 1927 to the late William and Reta Gail (Durbin) Priess. She married Delvin H. Rader on October 26, 1947 and he preceded her in death on October 24, 1996.
Virginia attended Yankeetown (a one-room school house), Lincoln Heights (a four-room school house) and was a graduate of Madison High School, Class of 1945. Virginia was a member of Calvary United Church of Christ, Crestline where she was also a member of the Ruth Missionary and the quilt ministry. She had worked at Dominion Electric, Mansfield; North Electric, Galion; GCS Air Service, Galion; and the Election Board. Her most important job was being a homemaker and wonderful mother. Virginia enjoyed cooking, writing, reading and playing cards. She always enjoyed visiting with friends and would share stories with them about her life. Her friends would say, “Virginia, you ought to write a book!”, and so she did. In December of 2012, Virginia had her book, “Every Family Tree Produces Nuts” published. The book is a memoir of her life and the farm where she raised her family. Virginia was extremely proud of having her book published. Virginia had a collection of arrowheads which she collected from driving tractor on the farm.
She is survived by three daughters, Joyce (Ramon) Durigg, Galion, Sheila (Larry) Schaeffer, Fort Wayne, IN, and Leesa (Steve) Beanblossom, Bradford; seven grandchildren, Melanie (Scott) Skaggs, Erika (Tyrone) Hough, Kevin (Erika) Schaeffer, Jenny (Matt) Daniels, Katie (Tyler) Luce, Sara Beanblossom and Emily Beanblossom; 11 great-grandchildren, Kiersten Skaggs, Jacob Skaggs, Timothy Skaggs, Joseph Daniels, Maria Daniels, James Daniels, Luke Daniels, Asante Towett, Gabriella Hough, Isaiah Luce, and Mackenzie Luce; great-great-granddaughters, Sophia Hickman and Mia Potter; a brother, Joseph “Joe” (Penny) Priess, Mansfield; and a good friend, Karyl Smith, Crestline.
She was preceded in death by her brother, William Jackson “Jack” Priess; two sisters, Donna Griffith and Alice Mayer; and her great grandson, Trahvon Davis.
Friends may call from 12 PM to 2 PM Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the Calvary United Church of Christ, 511 Heiser Ct., Crestline. Funeral services will follow at 2 PM Thursday at Calvary United Church of Christ with Rev. Gary Proietti officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary United Church of Christ or the Crestline Public Library in care of the funeral home.
