Kenneth L. Shiffert, 65, of Oregon, Ohio passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018, at home with his family at his side. He was the son of Robert L. and Marilyn D. (Rogers) Shiffert born December 5, 1952 in Bowling Green, Ohio. On July 8, 1978 he married Pamela S. (Stilwell) in Walbridge, Ohio and she survives.
Kenneth was an engineer for the CSX Railroad, based at the Stanley Yard in Walbridge, Ohio. He retired in 2012 after 18 years of service. Kenneth had been a member of the Oregon… Police Department for 17 years and a Volunteer Fireman for the Oregon Fire Department, Station 2, for 22 years. During his service on the police and fire departments he received awards for heroism and service for his actions, but he was never about awards,; he just enjoyed helping those in need. His passion, and some would say obsession, was his love for HO scale trains. He spent many hours on his train layout meticulously crafting every detail of the trains and the scenery. His love for the outdoors was shown by his enjoyment of fishing and hunting.
Survivors of Kenneth include his wife Pamela, children, Amanda (Andrew) Edwards, Michael (Crystal) Shiffert, Becka (Terry) Sifers, grandson, Garrett and sister, Karen (Kenneth) Ebert. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert & Marilyn.
Visitation for Kenneth will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Monday, April 2, 2018 in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio. Private services will be held later. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, Ohio 43551.
