Obituary of Gertrude Cromer
Miss Gertrude Cromer, 73, of Canal Street, Fort Plain, New York passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018 at St. Johnsville Rehab & Nursing Center.
Born on September 30, 1944 in Little Falls, NY, she was the daughter of Peter Cromer and Edith Gleason Cromer. She attended Oppenheim Ephratah School. Before moving to Dolgeville in 1982 she resided in Scotch Bush. In 2000, she moved to Fort Plain, where she resided until her death.
She was a member of Scotch Bush Free Methodist Church and Dolgeville Baptist Church. She was also a member of Western Fulton Senior Center. She enjoyed reading and loved going for walks. She prided herself on being fiercely independent.
Miss Cromer was employed for over 30 years at Daniel Green’s in Dolgeville.
Gertrude was predeceased by 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
She is survived by 3 sisters, Clara Frederick of Nelliston, NY, Joyce Klemczak of Amsterdam, NY, Elva Lynch of St. Johnsville, NY; 1 brother, Howard and Eva Cromer of Cypress, CA; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 5:30pm at The Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY with Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 4:30-5:30 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at Fical Cemetery.
Contributions in memory of Miss Gertrude Cromer may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial & Honor Program-F, 501 St. Jude Place, TN 38105-1905.
