Obituary of Mary Ann Gerstenkorn
Mary Ann Clara Gerstenkorn, age 92, of Lake Lillian, died on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Rice Hospital in Willmar, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. at United Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian. The Rev. LaDonna Ekern will officiate. Burial will be in Tromso Cemetery north of Lake Lillian. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the K-M Funeral Home in Lake Lillian. Visitation will continue on Thursday one hour prior to the 1:30 p.m. funeral service at the church in Lake Lillian.
Mary Ann Clara Gerstenkorn was born on June 6, 1925 in Lake Lillian, Minnesota to John Oliver and Minnie Elizabeth (Kiecker) Jacobson. She grew up in Lake Lillian and graduated from Bird Island-Lake Lillian High School. She was united in marriage to Allen John Gerstenkorn on November 5, 1951. For eight years, they lived in California and Maryann worked for Aircraft. They moved back to Lake Lillian and in 1965, Mary Ann and Allen adopted their daughter Karri. Along with raising their daughter, Mary Ann worked as a waitress and a cook at the Corner Café for many years. She also worked as a waitress at the Gateway Café in Olivia and the Horseshoe in Lake Lillian prior to going to work at Jennie-O in Willmar. She was a charter member of United Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian. She loved to read, travel with her husband Allen, embroidering in her younger years, her Dachshunds, and going for rides with her friends.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Karri and her husband John Koelling of West Plains, MO; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Allen on January 10, 1989, and her brother Russell Jacobson.
