Mrs. Mary Jane (Carrigan) Thibodeau, age 82, of Lynn, died Wednesday in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. She was the beloved wife of Norman J. Thibodeau, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage. Born in Medford, she was the daughter of the late James and Bertha (Kennedy) Carrigan. She was raised in Malden and Lynn and had lived in Lynn for the greater part of her life. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Girls High School, class of 1954.
Mary Jane started her own family day care in 1976, retiring in 2015. She was a lifetime member and past president of the Amvets Auxiliary, Post 161, and was a very active volunteer for individuals with disabilities. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, particularly the competitive SORRY! games with her grandchildren, which she never let them win.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by five children; Kathleen Thibodeau, Maureen Keck and her husband Jordie, Colleen Militello and her husband Frank, Kelly Finnegan and her husband Christopher, and Michael Thibodeau and his wife Gina; eleven grandchildren; Kaitlin, Ryan, Molly, Francis, Liam, Aisling, Reilly, Karissa, Michael Jr., Nicholas and Meagan; one great-grandchild; Lyanna; two sisters; Margaret Thibodeau and Nancy Frasca; one brother; James Carrigan and his wife Ann; her brother-in-law; Paul L’Esperance, her sisters-in-law; Maryanne Thibodeau and Terry Hornby and her husband Bill, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late James “Jimmy” Thibodeau, sister of the late Anne L’Esperance, and sister-in-law of the late Danny Frasca.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 9:30AM from the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 67 Ocean St. (Rt 1A), Lynn, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Lynn at 10:30AM. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-8PM.
