Obituary of Michael Karnis
Michael John Anthony Karnis, died peacefully at his Snow Hill home on Thursday, March 22, 2018, with his devoted wife at his side. Born on November 14, 1951 in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late George and Annastacia Morris Karnis.
Following graduation from Monsignor Bonner School in Drexel Hill, PA, he was drafted in the Army and served in Germany as an M.P. Following his military service, he worked in the steel industry before relocating to Snow Hill, where he worked as a corrections officer at the Worcester County Detention Center.
He was an avid tropical fish enthusiast who also enjoyed antique automobiles and gardening.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Georgiann (Griggs) Karnis; one brother, Joseph Karnis; two sisters-in-law, Victoria (Griggs) Moulder and Barbara Griggs and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Edward Karnis and one sister, Maryann Donovan.
A Mass of Christian Burial was will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 11:00 AM at the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Pocomoke City officiated by Rev. William S. Porter.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Worcester County Animal Control, 6207 Timmons Road, Snow Hill, MD 21863.
