May 13, 1947 – March 19, 2018
After a long 10 year decline, Larry D. Waller, age 70, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on March 19, 2018. He didn’t want to leave, but his body finally gave up the fight. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Larry was born on May 13, 1947 in Williston, ND and grew up in Homestead, Montana on a farm with 8 siblings, 3 brothers and 5 sisters. He joined the Navy after high school and was named “Waller the Wizard”. He served for five and a half years before being medically discharged because of a brain tumor. He completed his working career with the postal service and retired after 20 years.
He was married to Penny for 41 years and loved her fiercely. He supported his daughter, Dena in everything she did. His grandkids always brought a smile to his face. He was hard working, loyal, and determined. He loved wood working, square dancing, old country music, westerns, Norwegian jokes, wrestling, and bourbon & cokes. He will be missed very much.
Mr. Waller was preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Marjorie Waller; a sister, Joann Storer, and a brother, Richard Waller. He is survived by his wife, Penny Sue Waller; a daughter, Dena Sue Powell; step-daughters, Dixie Rice and Margie Waller; sisters, Carolyn Olsen, Janice Boyer, Anne Rossmeier, and Twila Flagen; brothers, Sidney and Ronald Waller; grandchildren, Aaron, Ashton, and Austin Rice, Hunter Powell, and Peyton Powell; and great-granddaughter, Maya Ashton Rice.
