Garison Laudell Dollar, age 90, of Hot Springs, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 26, 2018.
He was born June 2, 1927 in Mauldin, Arkansas to William Ambers and Cordelia McKinley Dollar.
Laudell proudly served his country in the armed forces, enlisting in the US Navy at the age of 17. He was a World War II veteran. On March 7, 1947, he married Winnie Cozart. He worked for Reynolds Metal for thirty-five years. He then went on to work at Oaklawn Race Track as a walker for over ten years. He was passionate about fishing, water-skiing, camping, traveling, and spending time with his family. He was a man of Christian faith and worshipped in the Assemblies of God church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His children and grandchildren gave him much joy. He was a Godly man that led by example and was loved by all who knew him.
Laudell was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dick Dollar, Jack Dollar and Orbria Dollar; and three sisters, Camilla Davidson, Irene Parker and Agnes McKenzie.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Winnie Dollar of Hot Springs; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jan Mory and husband John, Tamara Abernathy and husband Paul, and Angel Parker and husband Richard; grandchildren, Geoff Maxey (Cari), Jennifer Barton (Derek), Zack Joyce, Dillon Abernathy, Forrest Parker, Lauren Parker, and Matthew Mory; and great-grandchildren Tristan Maxey, Caleb Maxey, Baylee Barton, and Hayden Barton; three sisters, Mary Mann of Edmond, Washington, Betty Stafford of Amity, and Thelma “Perk” Thrash of Fort Worth, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Davis-Smith Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Adams officiating.
Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Park, Hot Springs.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Geoff Maxey, Zach Joyce, Forrest Parker, Dillon Abernathy, Tristan Maxey, and Caleb Maxey.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Featherston, Dr. Martin Koehn, Auther Russell, sons-in-law, Hayden Barton, and the caring staff of CHI ICU, Arkansas Hospice, and 4 West.
